Prayer for One Terminally Ill

O Almighty God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we pray to You for Your servant _____ whose sickness is bringing
him/her to the end of earthly life. You are the God whose only-begotten Son taught us that not even the
smallest sparrow can fall without Your knowledge, and that You hold all creation in Your merciful arms. Look upon Your servant _____ and allow this illness to be for the death only of those things which are the result of evil and sin. Let his/her thoughts be quieted with the peace and confidence of final deliverance into the fullness of Your love. Keep his/her soul and body pure, and sanctify them during the time he/she remains among us, that on the last day he/she may be raised up with all Your saints to live with You in neverending glory. For to You belong praise and worship, to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen

Prayer of a Sick Person

Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, You became man and died on the cross for our salvation.

You healed people of sickness and affliction through Your love and compassion.

Visit me, Lord and grant me strength to bear this sickness with which I am afflicted, with patience, submission to Your will and trust in Your loving care.

I pray that You will bless the means used for my recovery and those who administer them.

Grant that my sickness may be to my spiritual benefit and that I may live the rest of my life more faithfully according to Your will.

For You are the source of life and healing and to You I give praise and glory, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen

Prayers for a Sick Person

O Lord our God, Who by a word alone did heal all diseases, Who did cure the kinswoman of Peter,

You Who chastise with pity and heal according to Your goodness;

Who are able to put aside every sickness and infirmity, do You Yourself, the same Lord, grant aid to Your servant _____________

and cure them of every sickness of which he/she is grieved; and send down upon them Your great mercy,

and if it be Your will, give to _____________ health and a complete recovery;

for You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to You do we send up Glory: to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen

Grant to me the shield of faith and the mighty armor of the Holy Spirit to protect me and guide me to do Thy will. The future I put into Thy hands, O Lord, and I follow Thee to a life in Christ. Amen

Prayers for Oneself in Time of Need

Almighty God, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, come to my help and deliver me from this difficulty that besets me.

I believe Lord, that all trials of life are under Your care and that all things work for the good of those who love You.

Take away from me fear, anxiety and distress. Help me to face and endure my difficulty with faith, courage and wisdom.

Look down upon ____________and have mercy on them and deliver them from the trouble that now besets them.

Deal with ____________ not according to their iniquities, but according to Your manifold mercies, for we are the works of Your hands, and You know our weaknesses.

I pray to you to grant ____________ Your divine helping grace, and endow them with patience and strength to endure their hardships with complete submission to Your Will.

Only You know our misery and sufferings, and to You, our only hope and refuge, we flee for relief and comfort, trusting in Your infinite love and compassion, that in due time, when You know best, You will deliver ____________ from this trouble, and turn their distress into comfort.

 We then shall rejoice in Your mercy, and exalt and praise Your Holy Name, O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, both now and forever and to the ages of ages.  Amen

For Persons Suffering with Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia

Defend the lowly and fatherless;
render justice to the afflicted and needy.
Rescue the lowly and poor;
deliver them from the hand of the wickedJOHN 10:14-15

Loving God, Healer and Comforter,

we pray for those who suffer from the anxiety, ambiguity and confusion of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Look with mercy upon their distress, confusion or isolation. Shelter them where dignity and peace abound. Grant them understanding helpers and the willingness to accept help.

In the face of loss of memory and control, increase their confidence in your love and strengthen their care-givers. As the Good Shepherd, tend to the sick, rest the weary, pity the afflicted, soothe the suffering and bless the dying.

We make this supplication through the intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, in the name of your Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

“Miracles are not impossible from a logical standpoint, and right reason does not deny them. Natural laws do not have the claim to be the only ones, nor are they threatened with being overturned by the appearance of other laws, supernatural ones, which also are conducive to the development and furtherance of creation… Miracles are a consequence of the Creator’s love for his creatures.”

 — St. Nektarios of Aegina

St. Nektarios served as a confessor and spiritual guide. His Holy and pious life shone forth like a guiding light to all near him. Many would come to him for healing. Saint NeKtarios was a great Wonderworker even while alive.
